The Shepherds' Play

The Shepherds’ Play is a Waldorf school tradition.  This year, it is brought to us by the Christian Community Church with a little help from some of our very own Urban Prairie faculty.  The play is a warm-hearted nativity folk comedy about the shepherds who travel to see the newborn Christ-child. It originated as a medieval mystery play on the little island of Oberufer on the Danube.  Part of the fun of the play is that faculty vehemently deny that they are cast members, leaving the children to wonder and guess who might be playing whom!

Parking is waived for this event.

Festival of Light (NEW)

Don’t just pick up your student the last day before break, make it a celebration! Let’s end 2017 with light and joy and gather momentum for meeting 2018. Join us in the hall for singing and a story at 2:20pm. We’d love to have as many community members there as possible. Students will be officially dismissed at 3:00, and we invite you all to hang out for a bit to chat, sip tea, and munch on treats.
Important! Dismissal will begin at 3:00 instead of 2:30. There is no aftercare this day.
Parking is waived for this event.

In Gratitude   (1)
Thank you for a wonderful first half!

A sweet Rose Ceremony, square dancing our way through Michaelmas, an inspiring rendition of the Haudenosaunee Address, and yummy buns on Santa Lucia Day–it’s already been a wonderful time packed with memorable moments, and we’re only half-way through!  Every day we get to work with a wonderful group of children and their parents, and for that, all of the faculty at UPWS are thankful!  We hope that you enjoy a restful break and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
