Urban Prairie Waldorf School

Parent-Child Program

Designed to meet the needs of young children ages 0 to 3 and to provide loving support for their parents, the Urban Prairie Parent-Child program is led by Katherine Bence. She creates a warm, caring environment where the children can explore and play. The program also provides a supportive community for parents to explore the joys and challenges of raising young children, learn simple crafts, and enjoy songs and stories with their children.

Katherine Bence is a graduate of the Chicago Waldorf School with a BA in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.  She taught preschool for several years and currently works for the Chicago Public Library conducting storytimes and other educational programs for young children and their families. Katherine is excited to lead this program that will link together Urban Prairie’s fast-growing elementary Waldorf program with the quality early childhood programming at City Garden, our affiliate school.
